I would like to ask for some feedback from any readers of this post: How does a verse like this shape your understanding of God? How do words like, holy, without blame, predestined, chosen, adoption, accepted, in the Beloved help you understand grace? Is this a passage you would stop and think about, or one you might skip over because it is hard to comprehend? For me, this passage helped to transform the way I believe and trust in God. What do you say?

To the Praise of His Grace... What do you say?
"According as he has chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: having predestined us to the adoption of [sons] by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will, to the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he has made us accepted in the Beloved." (Ephesians 1:5-6).

I think I need to make sure I'm giving him glory for saving me. Eventhough it wouldn't make him anymore glorious for me to give him glory in everything I still should!

Personally, I love these verses. But I could be weird. :)
About three years ago I studied Ephesians verse by verse and I was simply blown away by all the spiritual blessings (1:3) we have in Christ. Our adoption, redemption, etc., all came to us through our Savior. Amazing! But we also find our purpose too. We are to called to live holy and blameless lives.
And yes, it does shape how I view God and what I think about grace. It makes me feel amazed and loved.
Kole: Amen. Thanks for responding to my questions. You're right that what you do won't make God more glorious, but it does display how glorious He really is when He does in you what you cannot. I agree that we should always be praising Him as the Author and Finisher of our faith (Heb. 12:2), and like you said, giving God glory for our salvation. I can't help but praise Him now. Hallelujah!

These verses give me security in Christ. God is holy and blameless and He chose me to be like that too! He accepted me in Christ, and I don't have to worry about anything because He's already planned out my life. Best of all, He loves me, and that Rocks!
